Today, I will relate how it is to be a Gooner in Singapore. Ardent Arsenal fan Nick shared with me...
... It's always refreshing to find a fellow Arsenal fan in Singapore and i was almost on the point of despair because you hardly find Arsenal fans in Singapore where everybody is either a Man Utd or Liverpool fan. Someone was telling me the other day that Arsenal fans in Singapore are like the Sith because they are hardly any of us compared to the multitudes of Liverpool and Man Utd supporters...Nick took the words right out of my mouth. There are indeed more Singaporeans supporting Man U and Liverpool. Throw a stone into the blue oyster bar and you'll probably hit a red devil. Brother Blog is one those
Let's use my workplace as another illustration. From the time that I've been working there, I am the only one of two Gooners flying the Arsenal flag. The other followed the Gunners by default cos of some ex-boyfriend. She has since left. So I'm the only Gooner left...
And the rest?
The big boss is a red devil. My immediate boss is a liverpudlian. (amazing how I'm still surviving) There are another 8 or 9 other red devils or liverpudlians, not counting those that have left. Oh, there's also have one ru$$ian-loving blue.
So to all those lone Gooners in your office cubicles, school classrooms, army camps, drinking holes, gambling dens or even in the gahmen houses, I feel your pain & at the same time, pride. Just remember: stay firm and don't let them bully you into an unthinkable defection.
Speaking of fair-weathered fans, I noticed that there are more and more Chel$ea supporters these days. I really despise those who just conveniently state their allegience to the latest winner and start to don their colours, trying to convince people that they are long-time supporters. We'll only know they are true fans if they still stick to the team when they are no longer on top - which will be soon... ;)
Remember when Blackburn won the league? I recall vividly the hordes of Singaporeans wearing their shirts. No disrespect, but where are they now?
Anyway Nick, I don't know about being a Sith, but we are certainly not a small bunch. If you were at the Elizabeth Hotel for the 2006 Champions League Finals, you would have known that the crowd that night was insanely massive.
For the rest of the other Singapore Gooners, come on out and make your voice heard here in our nice corner...

5 farts:
Dude, u are not the only one! I am a Gooner and damn proud of being one! And I bet those lads at Liz are too! C'mon you Gunners!!!
Look at it this way: an Arsenal fan is always a true fan indeed. we wear the colour and badges with pride. I always feel proud whenever I am wearing my beloved colour. We may be small but we are loyal, hardcore, and special set of fans.
To ManU fans, try asking them if Peter Schmeichel is still playing and you may be surprise with their answers. hahaha.
No, we'll answer with "eh, I tot David Seaman took over our number 1 jersey???" (After all, he finished his career in Manchester *hahahaha)

The not-so-blonde fan OK!
Yep, can't wait to watch them march into Emirates Stadium at Liz Pub
This post really rings true. There are too few gunners in singapore, but we're all damn proud to be among that number.
GO GUNNERS!
